A colophon gives information about the publication of a book: usually the author, title, publisher (or printer or bookseller), and date.
In older books, the colophon usually appeared at the very end. In modern books, it’s usually on the title page.
The word colophon also often refers to the emblem or logo a publisher uses — a ship, an open book, a torch, a tree.
